IF U ARE A DENTIST please answer?

Dentist please asap. How can I remove food from where I've had my teeth extracted? 10 points for best answer?

  • I had 2 teeth removed about 48 hours ago. one on top at back where I cannot see and one on bottom I can see. Woke up this morning and was in worst pain since extraction but a couple of ibuprofen seem too have removed most of the pain. have brushed my teeth but not where i had them removed as i was advised against this but told to rinse with salt water so I have done this but there seems to be what I think is some food stuck on one edge of extraction hole that no amount of rinsing can remove. It looks kinda mucky white don't know if it is food for sure because I cant tell what it is. I have been told by the dentist not to touch the area with anything aswel. Also I have been having gum disease pain since yesterday but this is not where the teeth were pulled its at the front. Could it be caused by this? Answer asap please. Any help greatly appreciated and will definitely give 10 points for best advice.

  • Answer:

You! are not supposed to eat food in that area, where the teeth were pulled, those empty tooth sockets need to have the blood clot in order to heal. Removing that blood clot, will expose the nerve and make the pain worse.....So keep your tongue and tooth brush away ! Keep rinsing with salt water to heal, for several days. Term called dry socket.

Are you sure food is what is there? I thought I had food in my socket, but it was just the clot. If you are sure (use a mirror and light to check) then see your dentist. They are the only ones who can safely remove it without you taking out the clot and getting a dry socket. Also, if you do have food there and don't get it removed it can get infected. Usually dentists will remove it for free, at least the one I had did. Good luck and speedy recovery!

It sounds like you need to see a hygenist, he/she will not only clean the teeth but also check your gums for any disease, and advise you to not only brush your teeth but also to use a mouth rinse, it sounds like you need to see the dentist itself as pain where the tooth was to check that you dont have an abscess under the gum, that alone can be extremely painful. I am not a dentist, but I do make sure my teeth are always healthy by going to the dentist on a regular basis, making sure they are cleaned by a hygenist, and then visiting the dentist himself if the hygenist sees that there is a problem with my teeth..
