When were invisible braces made?

Professional help: my ortho made me have an open-bite to correct protruded teeth (2nd time braces)?

  • I had braces in 2006 for a year and a half to correct my cross-bite. No extraction involved. However, when my dentist took off my braces, she found out that I'd protruded teeth which resulting in the gum on the top teeth look very noticeable when I smile. Partly because the type of my teeth is more like squarish rather than the rectangular ones. Since I've quite thick lips, I can fully close them but my face profile from side doesn't really look good especially when I close it (I feel my mouth is like a monkey). Fast forwarding, 4 years later, I'd my braces for the second time (last December) after I finished my studies at oversea. During those times, I'd fixed retainers on top and bottom teeth. Therefore, the teeth were still straight but the protruding problem became more obvious. I don't know how to classify my problem, is it overbite? but the distance between top and lower teeth meet each other. They're just slightly slanted outward. However, to my surprise, my ortho suggested me to have 4 pre-molars extracted to correct the problem. Luckily, I managed to find out about the consequences of extraction and insisted to keep my teeth. I just asked her to do whatever she can do to fix the problem, or at least correct the misalignment that is found around 2mm, i think. Therefore, she she put 4 ring tubes on my last molars (except the left bottom one, she put on the second last molar) with blue cement/ filling on top of the ring. As a result, only my last molars could be touched. It also created a gap on the front teeth (about half centimetres??) which making me hard to talk and eat. It looked like an open bite, but worse, all the way through teeth. I asked about it and they replied that the gap would be closed over time. Their rationale is the gap is created to pull the teeth in.I was also worried because I heard a clicking sound on my jaw as a result of this. Ok, 6 weeks have passed since that visit and the gap is getting smaller (about several mm) at the front teeth because the molars can touch each other now. And today, my dentist put another ring on my last molar which hadn't been insterted yet (that means ring tube side by side). The problem is, half of that particular molar is still covered by my gum so she pushed the ring quite hard and caused a slight cut. Despite that, she still didn't manage to fully inserted it and it caused the ring to be positioned slightly higher than the second last molar. And so my worst nightmare comes again. I've even bigger gap between my teeth now (I can get my tongue through it!). It's sooooooo hard to talk, let alone eat because only that newly-inserted ring molar can touch the other molar on top. And it's also very painful when I clench my teeth or eat because the ring will make a deeper cut on my gum. I'm so pissed off because she said now that I've an open bite (which I didn't before this treatment). My dentist explained to me that my teeth are at the max jaw position so it's hard to pull back in the teeth, unless if there's room for that. But I'm determined to not having extraction no matter what. Sorry for the long message. But I'm in a big dilemma now. I really don't know what to do as I'm so confused with the method used by my ortho. Can somebody explain what is happening here? I've heard people get the ring on the last molars but with the blue filling on it, and until the end of treatment?? My ortho said the gap between teeth caused by the ring will be closed by itself after the braces removal. Is it true? I'm starting to lose faith in my ortho...
