Should I become a dental hygienist or an orthodontist assistant?

Is a good idea study dental assistant to become dental hygienist? ; I just want to start in the field ASAP?

  • I'm 37 years old and I'm very tired of my job (loan officer), is too much stress and is afecting my health. Dental hygienist will take 3 to 4 years and dental asisstant only 9 months. But I'll be in the field while preparing for dektal hygienist.

  • Answer:

I have reviewed hundreds of hygienist resumes. Very few assistants go on to get their hygiene degree. It isn't unheard of, just not as common as one might think. The exception is people who were dental technicians in the military, they often do. would continue being a loan officer and go directly for the hygiene degree. Also, hygienists make a lot more money that assistants.
