I Chipped My Molar, What Do I Do?

What's the procedure to fix a chipped/broken molar?

  • a small chunk of my molar broke off. Can a dentist just fill it in or is it a more complicated procedure?

  • Answer:

This happened to me and my dentist told me that teeth dont just chip unless they have a problem such as a cavity. You will probably have to get a cap or possible root canal.

Ignore kingtut-honestly! Well it really depends on the size of the chip, and which molar it is. If its a small chip on a molar nearer the front of your mouth your dentist will most likely add some composite or white filling material to close the hole, and make the tooth look like a tooth again. If it is a larger hole, an larger amalgamite or again, white filling may be needed. Neither procedures hurt...i've had both, and as long as your dentist numb's you up..which he will i hope, you'll be absolutely fine!
