What is the process of braces?

What is the WHOLE process of getting braces?!?!?

  • I am getting braces soon and I was wondering what the whole process is. Thnx!

  • Answer:

Your teeth is polished with a special polisher and then a lip stretcher is placed on your teeth. Then a dental vacuum is used to suck out saliva, then a Emanuel conditioner is applied to teeth. One tooth is braced at a time. First, a UV adhesive is applied to the tooth; the lip stretcher is in place so that this adhesive is untouched. Using dental cement, a metal bracket is attached to the tooth and is secured with the use of a UV curing light. The light activates the adhesive and helps the cement bond to the tooth. Once brackets are all in place, a nickel-titanium archwire is thread through each bracket. The archwire is easy to bend to accommodate the shape of the patient's mouth. After threading through, the wire must be secured so that it stays in an affective position. Elastics are used to keep the wire in place; they come in many different colors, as well as variable strengths and sizes. The elastics are fitted around each bracket and over the wire.
