How do they take off braces?

How long will it take for my braces to come off?

  • I've had my braces since 5th grade. I'm going to be a freshman soon and I'm seriously tired of braces. I've had everything with my braces, you name it. And I even had jaw surgery meaning they actually drilled my jaw and put in screws in my gum, putting a chain to structure my jaw right. I admit, I had the worst overbite in the world but now it's gone! I've had braces for 3 years, I was "suppose" to get them off on Dec. of last year but the other day, they said I have until summer to get them off. I just got elastics so I'm hoping wearing them EVERY SINGLE DAY, will speed up the process? What else can I do to help me take these train tracks off my mouth faster?

    Sounds like we have had an extremely similar experience with braces! I got my in 5th grade and just got 'em off in September. I am a freshman now. Anyway. Shouldn't you be wearing the elastics everday anyway? If you want to get your braces off ASAP you need to really follow your orthodontists instructions! Do everything right the first time so you don't have to go through this again!!!

Ask your parents or doctor. There is supposed to be a determined date for the removal of braces. It's probably harmful having them on too long.
