  • Answer:

Hi, It's unlikely to be Oral Thrush.....it's a lot more uncommon than people on here seem to think. We only generally see it in people with other illnesses or that are VERY run down. The most likely culprit is smoking, Nicotine causes a yellow furry coating on the tongue, you don't mention if you smoke. If you do try to give up as it's not just a stained tongue you need to worry about, smoking is REALLY damaging to your gums, and makes you much more prone to lose your teeth through gum disease. Try either a tongue scraper from a Dentist or the Chemist, or brushing your tongue in long strokes from back to front with a toothbrush. Preferably with a bicarbonate of soda toothpaste. A mouthwash with Hydrogen Peroxide like Peroxyl can help too. Hope this helps !

Does it come back after you brush your tongue? It could be trush (I think that's what it's called) it's basically a yeast infection, but in your mouth. Go see your doctor to get it checked out.

Have you tried a good antibacterial mouthwash? If that doesn't work, talk to your dentist, doctor or an alternative therapist. I would probably go to a Dr China or similar (Chinese medicine/acupuncture) for a diagnosis.

use a toothbrush and clean your tongue it could be a build up of plaque, coffee food ect but if persist see your dr as could be thrush which is easily treatable
