Jaw pain from piercing. Is it ok?

Wisdom teeth pain age 15?!?

  • Hi, i am 15 and my wisdom teeth have started to come through quite early.I have had an xray to check if they are coming through ok and they all seemed okay apart from the bottom left tooth. my dentist said it may become impacted but would probably push through just fine. My teeth were fine until a few months back when my bottom left tooth started to hurt. ( the possibly impacted tooth) the pain became worse so i went back to the dentist to let him check it out. he had a look and reassured me that my tooth was ok and it was just normal pain that happens when the tooth grows through. He gave me a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to gargle my mouth with for any further pain.My tooth then became ok again for a while until now were it has completely flared up. The gum around the bottem left tooth is very swollen and tender to touch. i have a dull aching pain in my jaw and the glands under my jaw are swollen and sore.i have been switching between ice and heat packs all day taken many pain relief tablets and become close to crying with the constant gnawing pain!the tooth looks half erupted but i dont know if it will push through or not..I think that my tooth maybe infected or something. I dont want to go back to the dentist in case he just tells me its normal growing pains and i just look like i am over reacting. He wont take the teeth out because they look ok to him. do you think if i go back and he takes another look he may change his opinion as i am really sick of the pain and i dont want it to effect my exams this year. I just want them taken out! Many thanks.. i hope you guys can help :)

  • Answer:

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out at 15. My dentist didn't think they looked too bad but referred me to an oral surgeon for him to have a closer look. The oral surgeon played around a bit and took more x-rays from different views and decided that it would be best for me to have them out. You need to talk to your parents about your concerns - maybe they can take you to a new dentist? or maybe you can talk to your current dentist about a referral for an oral surgeon? Good luck! I know it's not fun - but recovering from oral surgery is not fun either.
