How to tell the difference between tooth decay, sensitive teeth and sinus pain?
-
How do you know the difference between the pain caused by tooth decay, sensitive teeth and sinus pain? I have a pain in the area of my face on the top left hand side about halfway back. It's not too bad but is there a lot of the time but doesn't get made any worse by anything. How do I know what is most likely causing it and if I should see a dentist?

Answer:
Sensitive teeth are very much related to an experience when perhaps food or cold drink is present. Then there is the pain caused by tooth decay or infection or fracture and this can be diagnosed by the dentist in the surgery with an xray and examination. Established and long term infection can cause cysts and bone loss as well. The xray can show some of the sinus area, but a good indication of sinus infection is pain around the eyes and face that is considerable worse if you bend over to touch your toes, along with a feeling fo pressure.

You should see a dentist every 6 months whether you have pain or not, so if it's been longer than that I suggest you go, even if this doesn't turn out to be serious. There are online dental insurance plans that you can look into if you don't have one. Do it sooner rather than later, because you don't know how long they'll take to put it through. When I get sinus pain it tends to be more in the front of my mouth than the sides. It could be different for other people. Pain from sensitive teeth usually occurs with exposure to hot or cold, so I'm guessing that's not what it is. I would recommend seeing a dentist because if it is tooth decay it will only get worse with time and become more painful and expensive to take care of.

Why are you asking this on here? what do you think dentists are for? Do you just want a lesson on dental diagnosis, or do you want the problem fixed? I can give you the lesson, but your teeth will still hurt.................
