How do root canals look?

Root canal tooth pain months after?

  • Hi. I got a root canal done last summer. Didn't get the permanent crown at the time because I could afford it, but my dentist said it was very secure and would hold up well. My tooth started becoming sensitive to temperature in January. I got it x-rayed and my dentist said all of the canals had been treated, that it didn't look like an infection, and that the nerves were just adjusting still. The pain stopped a few days later on its own. I am now having the same issue again but it feels a little more severe. At first it was sensitive to heat, but now it's sensitive to hot and cold. Do you think the nerves are still settling or is this something more serious?

  • Answer:

I am not sure of the pain but my endodontist had told me to get a crown within 2-4 weeks of the root canal treatment as the tooth becomes very brittle after root canal and can easily get fractured.
