How Do I Know If I Have Dry Socket?

  • I just got all 4 wisdom teeth taken out thursday 2/28/2012 PLus 2 root canals done.. Im still in pain where I cant hardly even open my mouth still, and I still have my self of a all soft food deit cuz it hurts to much you try eat anything... Even noddles.... Im Just wondering if it just takes more time to heal or if I could have Dry Socket.. Just not sure since I got the root canals done to dont know if that could be causeing me not to be able open my mouth only half way and have pain or not... Please help!!!

    Are you crying? If not, you don't have a dry socket. It is constant SEVERE pain, like nothing you have felt before. You had surgery done, in all 4 quadrants of your mouth - it's going to take time to heal, and there's no forcing it. It's very common to still have a lot of trouble opening your mouth at this point. Just baby and pamper yourself now as much as possible. Take your meds as directed, and make you are well fed and hydrated, to aid the healing process. Get some bottles of Boost, or Ensure, just to make sure all your nutritional needs are being met. Oh, I feel for you....I've been there. But you should start improving very, very soon. **Good luck - feel better!

I had mine out 2 days after you lol. I think mine are healing fine, not so sure about my left side. Something feels off. I can't tell whether its my top or bottom but something feels hard and when I close my jaw its slightly higher than my left side. I tried eating a banana last night and couldn't even open my mouth wide enough and it started hurting. Managed to eat a pancake and an egg on bread, but it was painful after awhile. Not sure if any of that would be symptoms of dry socket. I'm kind of hoping I'm just tore the stictch some from chewing. But how are yours feeling now that a couple days have passed?

you would know if it was a dry socket it would hurt like hell, it would be unbearable when air got in your mouth while you were talking. it just takes time
