What should I major in to become a dentist?

What should be my major if I want to become a dentist?

  • I'm a senior in high school applying for college to go to school to become a dentist but I'm not sure what should be my major or my minor. I have heard many people say that they have majored in Biology but I don't know what other choices I have.

  • Answer:

Most major in biology or biochemistry, but there is no specific major you need. visit a few dental school websites and see what courses they require. All include at minimum 2 semesters bio, 2 sem chem, 2 sem organic chem, 2 sem physics---all with labs. Others may require biochemistry, calc, psychology, and/or a certain number of english courses. The more upper level science courses you take the more beneficial it will be for the DAT test (entrance test) and dental school itself.
