What is a gum disease?

What else besides gum disease causes bad breath. Please help? Where do I go from here?

  • I have went to several dentists about breath odor. They have stated that there is nothing wrong withmy gums or teeth. Yet people are offended and i am embarrassed about the odor. i wake up every morning with mucous around my gum area and in my mouth. Where do I go from here? Help this is really depressing? I like to talk but lately I just sit with a dumb look on my face.

  • Answer:

Might be a sinus or digestion problem........ talk to your doctor.

hi there. try and chill.....you can worry all you like, but this isnt going to sort anything...or add a single second to your life. firstly, are you a smoker or have u been a smoker up until recently? maybe this is it. althought people may give up smoking, they are still breathing from their lungs, which have had plenty of smoke over time....so if u somke or have given up in last few months,u need to be patient and wait for your lungs to clear. also, it may help if you brush your tongue when brushing your teeth, your breath passes through your gob,as u obviously know, and apparantly, your tongue can influence your smell of breath.i am a smoker, but i keep my teeth cleaned each morning and most importantly,at night. it is more important to brush your teeth at night,as this is the only time your mouth and teeth get the full effects of toothpaste. we brush in the morning, but within a cpl of hours we are having breakfast at work or wherever. i hope this may of some help. i hope you get it sorted as im sure it does not help your self confidence. oh by the way ,make sure you floss youe teeth too....they say that if you dont floss, you may as well not brush your teeth. youd be suprised just how much crap can be caught up between your teeth without knowing it.also,i recently heard that we should gurgle boiled water(obviously cooled a bit) with a spoonful of salt at night....this will help teeth and gums........ all the best

Bacteria causes bad breath. Make sure you are using a non-alcoholic mouthwash. Crest makes a really good one that will kill bacteria without drying your mouth out. Make sure you brush you tongue, too. You can get a soft toothbrush just for your tongue or a tongue scraper at the drug store.

Brush yo' teeth! Of course, since I'm sure you do anyway, try them' fancy toothbrushes. For example some people have larger teeth than others, such as me, so if I get a normal dollar shop toothbrush, it doesn't scrub my gums along with my teeth, so I get these fancy oral B ones from crest with rubber on the side that's supposed to do something useful. I also brush my tounge and use Listerine, though I don't believe that it's non-alcoholic and a previous answer stated you should use a non-alcoholic mouthwash, though I'm not certain why, I'm sure there's a reason.

I had bad breath and heartburn last year so I went to my doctor. She did a blood test and turns out I had a common bacterial infection in my stomach called Heliobacter Pylori. They prescribed me some strong antibiotics for 2 weeks and it cured the heartburn and bad breath.

Do you use a tounge scraper? If so, talk to your doctor about possible sinus problems, or stomach problems. Bad breath could be the sign of infection somewhere in your body.

see a dr. I have heard your tongue or throat ( tonsils) can cause bad breath. Good luck.
