Why do I have bad breath?

Why does my breath always seem to smell so bad?

  • I know it's a weird question, but everyone else's breath seems to be fine. I'm scared to talk into people's faces, even though nobody has ever told me I have bad breath (probably because that's mean to say), but I know it's true, even though others might not. Don't tell me to brush my teeth more, because I'm a brushing fanatic. I brush everyday, all day. Basically all I can. I chew gum ALL the time, and the same with breath mints. But, nothing seems to work! Why? How can I make my breath better, so that I won't be embarressed to talk to people? Thanks! -Jess<333

  • Answer:

There is bacteria that stays on your tongue which can cause a bad smell. Using a toothbrush and slowly scraping it from the back to front of your tongue can help. Just wash off the brush with water after each motion forward (otherwise you are just spreading the bacteria around). Mouthwash can also help kill the bacteria. Gum and mints may temporarily help, but mints especially will still leave a bad taste in your mouth because of the sugar. Also be concious of the foods you eat. If you eat garlic pizza, don't expect your breath to smell good!

maybe it is to do with what you eat. Do you eat junk food ? Try a healthier diet.

try adding flossing your teeth and mouth wash to your routine if you don't already do so. those can help significantly. also, most of the bacteria comes from your tongue, so brush your tongue even if it feels weird. you aren't alone! also, the gum and mints can almost make it worse sometimes so make sure what kind of mints or gum it is. as for gum, spit it out before it loses flavor and make sure it doesnt have sugar. and i know this sounds like the most simple solution, but drinking a ton of water, expecially verses soda also takes excess acid out of your mouth that causes bad breath.

It seems that you have yet to learn that most bad breath is caused by bacteria on the top of the tongue. Brush the teeth and then clean the tongue. it sounds like it's fine and you're just paranoid, just ask a close friend to tell you the truth and then maybe talk to your dentist
