I Chipped My Molar, What Do I Do?

My dentist either chipped or sanded down my molar?

  • I was having a filing done on my second molar on the top right side and when the dental assistant was trying to put on the dental dam the dental clamp would not fit. It flew off my tooth. i had the filling done and then when I got home I realized my first molar was chipped off towards the back! I called and they scheduled me for monday. How can improve they did this or have them fix it!? I'm 22 and pretty pissed because I take very good care of my teeth and we only get one chance with our teeth.! What do I do!???!?

  • Answer:

Don't panic! They will look at your teeth and see what is really going on. If they try to tell you that it was there before you can ask them to let you see the x-ray. If you see a broken part on the x-ray then you will know it was there before. Sometimes teeth break because the filling was too high and when you were numb you bit down too hard and chipped that corner (cusp tip) of the tooth. That would be their fault then! They would need to fix your other tooth on the bottom then. Make the appointment and see them and let them tell you what is going on. But to let you know ... a rubber dam clamp will not break your teeth that easily. Teeth are hard! They don't break like that. Thank God for that! God bless you!
