How long should pain last after a tooth extraction?

How long after tooth extraction should pain last?

• Hi there, I had my bottom right tooth ( next to wisdom) pulled on Wed morning, it is now Sat night and i feel like my jaw is bruised. the clot is still in place , the white stuff is clearing up. I have bitten my tongue 2 times day. and now it is swollen. pain is constant and pain killers seem to help , pain is not worse just the same all the time. I woke up last night in agony because i was clenching my jaw so hard in my sleep i cause myself pain, I went to chemist today and they said they cant do anything until my tooth is cleared up. I am taking 2 nurofen with codine and 2 panadol atm every few hours. I rinsing with salt water and briushing opposite side very gently. I am unable to chew solids as yet. should i be worried or is this normal and how long should i give it before worrying/. At night if it gets to bad i am taking panadine forte.

  You need to call back the dentist that did the extraction. I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled and was only out of it for 24 hours.. then tender for a day or 2. It almost sounds like you have an infeciton you need to call the dentist today!
