Is it possible for teeth to naturally re-enamel like new?

My new braces are making my teeth hurt like hell. Help?

  • I (14) just got my braces today, and i have two spacers in the bottom row of my teeth, but none on the top, cuz i already had spacers there with my expanders. my teeth hurts even when i just touched it. i want to avoid medicine, because ive had enough in my day.... any one have medicine-free solutions? even when i dont touch it, it feels extremely painfully sore. and i have a high tolerance for pain too.

  • Answer:

To try to ease the pain you can put ice cold water in a plastic bag because that makes the wires expand and make it hurt less. Yes it is going to be a hard couple days but you will get through it. If you don't want to take medicine then it will help you cope with the discomfort from the adjustments. The soreness is normal but it should subside within a couple of days

don't bite down too hard or grind your teeth, and wait a couple of days and it'll go away.

Eat hot soups, they kind of soothed my pain. You can also try cold things i guess, like ice cream, im sure it will a little bit too, unless you have very sensitive teeth like me. Sleeping works also, so nap as much as possible. Swoosh, with really warm water, and that will help too. And my ortho told me if i wanted the pain to go away i should eat solid foods, so they will get used to it faster. [i was able to eat warm rolls, and lots of pasta, i think i even ate a hamburger] The pain will end before you know it. good luck

try orajel. works great cause it makes your teeth numb so you can't feel them. you can get orajel at pretty much any store.

Definitely do not drink from a straw! That hurt worst for me.There isn't much you can do than just lay back and eat soft foods.I have absolutely no pain tolerance. It's sore because it's moving your teeth.I didn't eat for a few days but you can drink some soups, mashed potatoes(like lick it off a small spoon and swallow),applesauce, ice cream, etc. It will go away soon but there isn't much you can do to stop pain on your teeth.Good luck.

welcome to the land of braces, where using your mouth is difficult and painful.

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about it. It will go away after at most one week, but until then, you can try to occupy yourself with something you like to do. That will not be easy, but you cannot do anything else. Medicine is the only real solution to the pain, but most of the time, the over the counter ones do not help very much. If the pain is almost unbearable, your orthodontist can prescribe you a more powerful pain reliever that targets the teeth more.
