Am I the only one that is lost?

I had 2 retainers... and lost one?

  • Hi, I used to have 2 retainers. One is the newer one and one is the older one. But today at lunch, I think I accidentally threw the newer one in the trash, and I don't know where it went. So, I decided to use the older one for the time being and it hurt so much. The older one is the retainer I got just after I got rid of my braces. The newer one is the retainer I got around half a year later (but it is the same shape because the retainer is taken after the mould my dentist made of my teeth after I got my braces off) The older retainer I'm wearing barely fits in my mouth and it hurt so much. So the question is, should I just wear the old one until the pain goes away or should I just go to the dentist and get a new retainer? And WHY would my teeth hurt just because I hadn't worn the old retainer for a few months? (I got my braces off last year April) I used to wear my retainer everyday 24/7 and I still do. Retainers aren't the cheapest and I don't want to tell my parents I lost a retainer by throwing it in the trash :/ Thank you!

  • Answer:

Hey. So when you got a new retainer, it was probably a different shape of your teeth. They probably moved the slightest bit, and because of that it hurts a lot. I would wear your old retainer, just so your teeth don't move anymore. It might hurt a bit, but it really won't be bad for you. It might even move your teeth a little bit to where they were right after you got your braces off. hope this helps. <3
