Does getting braces hurt?

Yes and makes you look like a geek.

It didn't hurt when I got them but, when they tighten them it hurts really bad. All those combinations are good but I would go for just black because it makes your teeth look whiter and they don't fade like some other colors do. for all the years I had braces, It was always black and a a different color. It doesn't really hurt, it just gets annoying [for me since i have a bad temper] it gets annoying since it takes a while for them to put them on. But i'll be honest. Its gonna hurt after you have them. But dont worry it'll last for about a week or 2. All you have to do is take pain reliever pills and your good!

Ok, I am a month in to getting my braces... everyones experience is different but here goes! When the brackets are put on its boring as hell, not painfull at all. Your mouth will feel really weird straight after, like you can get your lips over your braces, although this does change.Please at this point take a painkiller to at least ease the pain. The next 3 days after I experienced serious pain...like being smacked in the teeth with a baceball bat. Eating is tricky as your teeth will be tender from the teeth moving.They do this really quickly, you will be surprised! Please be gentle with them and eat soft stuff, oatmeal, soups, etc etc. The Ortho will give you wax to put on the parts of the braces that scratch, use it or you will get an ulcer and they hurt like hell. Personally I didnt get on with the wax as it kept falling off and I would swallow it, I use Gishygoo or Braceze which is a silicone like gel that sticks fast and isnt bulky, plus it comes off easy. It does gradually get better, the inside of your mouth toughens and every now and then you will get a tender tooth or teeth as they are moving but its do-able. For Color combo's I like black and Silver for a boy. Also I have clear ceramic braces coz I am a girl and vain! Good luck and go easy, it takes a bit of getting used to but its ok...promise! xx

it depends on how bad your teeth are my were not that bad just like WHATEVER for me at first they Fu*kin HURT i didn't eat for the first week, i say the first 4 tightens HURT alot so if your teeth are really bad then thats gonna suck or maybe for you, you wont feel a thing...lol yeah right..

I had braces for 5 yrs lol and its worth it. ne ways it didnt hurt me when they were putting them on it just hurt after cuz my teeth were really sore n i couldn't bite into ne thing. you get used to it after a while though.

The getting braces part doesnt hurt, but you have a HORRIBLE taste in your mouth when thy put the glue crud on. Your teeth may be sore for a few weeks and it will hurt to eat, because they are new and beginning to fix the problem. Make sure your wires aren't poking, because I have experienced that many times and it just ripps up your mouth. It takes a while to get used to them, but soon you will not think about them unless you run your tongue over your teeth. Don't do what i did and crunch a jumbo blowpop lol. Your bracket could break. It's kind of hard to brush, but it gets easier. Just use mouthwash=] you can change your colors everytime(every month) you go to get them tightened. You eventually get used to them, and they stop becoming a big problem, but you can still wish they were off:) If a bracket breaks, don't panic b/c if you go to the same place that put your braces on, they'll just glue it back on for you. =] best of luck!!!! also, i know this sounds odd but your teeth might feel a little...well..itchy, and it feels like your teeth are twice their size:(

I'm not going to sugar coat it. Yes, they hurt. I had braces for five years but they only hurt when they first put them on and when you go in to have them tightened. At these times, all your teeth are very tender and feel kinda bruised. The first day or two after you get them on, you'll only be able to eat soft food. Also, sometimes, the wire would poke the side of my mouth and I would have to put dental wax over it to keep from cutting the inside of my mouth. Braces suck, but you get used to them and someday all the girls will gush about your cute smile. P.S. I like your color choices, which you can change every time you go in for an adjustment. Also, I should probably note that I had braces back in the 1990s, so they may not hurt as bad as they did when I was an adolescent.
