Does Medicaid cover all children?

My 2yr old has severe tooth decay. She's on medicaid & I'm curious if they will only pay for silver caps?

  • I have a 2yr old daughter that has severe tooth decay in her four front teeth. She is on medicaid and we've had trouble finding a dentist in our area (N. Texas). We've located one that accepts medicaid but now we're curious if medicaid will only cover silver caps being put on. If so, will we be able to cover the difference for white caps and pay out of pocket? We're devastated that she is going through this. I feel like it reflects a great deal on us and hate to think about her sharing the embarrassment by having silver front teeth.     no because she'll have her adult teeth start to grow through when shes 8 + in future i suggest she doesnt have as much sugar in her diet and you clean her teeth at least once a day. xxx

My daughter had the same problem. Ignore these ignorant answers. My daughter had tooth decay because we would give her a glass of milk each night before bed. The milk decayed her teeth. Not the assumed candy & soft drinks people associate tooth decay with! I'm not sure on what you can do with medicaid but we paid for the white/clear caps and by the time she entered 1st grade she had her new teeth and everything was long and forgotten. Do not feel down on yourself about the tooth decay. We never gave our daughter candy or soft drinks and gave her lots of milk (to make a body strong ;-) ) and ended up in the same situation. SO no assumptions on why your daughter needs them, just a friendly bit of advice! Good Luck!
