Is the dentist career hard to study?

Dentists: I start my 8yrs college study to be a Dentist from next year. How much do I have to study each day?

  • I am currently at my last year of high school. From next year I start my 4 years in undergraduate studies followed by 4 years of Dentist school. In the end I hope to have a career in cosmetic Dentistry. I chose this profession because of the normal hours a cosmetic dentists gets to put in followed by the huge amount of salary that they usually get. SO, if anybody can tell me how much hours of studying I need to put in each day, including time at college plus personal study time. Also, how much will it cost me to finish my studies? Can I get a student loan? Can I have a social life to hang out with my friends or would I have to study all the time? Also, what sort of part-time job can I get while I wait for my long 8 years of study to finish as my other friends start their proper, profession life? Thank you for taking the time to read my question! :-D

  • Answer:

It is impossible to tell you how much time you will need to spend studying every day. Everyone is different and some grasp and memorize things readily, and some are not as gifted and intelligent and have to work much harder to achieve good grades. As far as loans and money, I know that at the dental school i graduated from, the average graduate accumulated and average of $179,000 in loans for just 4 years of dental school. Good luck in your career.
