Is it okay for a guy to work at Toys R Us?

  • I am a college student and my local ToysRUs is hiring. Is it okay for a guy like me to work there?

    Of course it's 'okay'! I was a freshman in college when I began working at Toys "R" Us in Topeka, KS in 1988. I helped set up the company's first and only store in the city. Mind you, at the time, employees had to wear these god-awful smocks on the sales floor. Picture orange and white pin stripes with a Geoffrey the Giraffe logo on the left chest. Ugh! Now, Toys "R" Us employees wear stylish blue polo shirts. Why couldn't I have worn something as cool?! Anyway, you shouldn't have any reservations about working at a Toys "R" Us store. If you have even a passing interest in toys then you'll get to see, and often buy, certain merchandise before regular customers can. Good luck!

Yes. You're not a freak, and you need the money. It's a job not shameful - you're not selling drugs or involved in smut or something that will bite you in the future. After all, you can't get a job as a teacher or a policeman if you fail a background check because you were once in a less-than-credible profession. Good luck!
