Where are the LEGO toys made?

Should we even continue to buy toys made in china?

  • bc its crazy it seems like every other day there is a toy recall on toys made in china. if you think about it the toy companies get the toys made in china b/c it costs less and the poor people are getting paid like $2 an hour , if they had them made in the U.S. then the standards of the making the toys would be higher, but now the toy companies would makes less, but our economy would benefit b/c there would be many more jobs. Also the toy companies said they would increase the price of toys by 10% to pay for more strict testing, why should we the consumer have to pay more for their mess up. The goverment shouldnt allow them to price the toys higher, the toy companies should just take the loss.

  • Answer:

That's part of the risk of out sourcing to countries where the people are basically treated like slaves. Actually I'd like to see more manufacturing jobs moved back to the U.S. - sure toy prices will go up but most kids have way too much 'stuff' today as it is. Ask most parents and they would probably agree that their kids have way to many stuffed animals, toy cars etc. Our kids collect toys more than play with them.

They should be free to price however they want without government interference. However, Chinese screwups should be well publicized, and consumers should seek out toys (and other products) that are NOT made in China. But the most egregious thing about China is not the poor quality of their products - it's their self-righteous, ethnocentric, and humorless attitude. Not to mention their government dictatorship and endemic corruption. They're one of the most unfortunate societies on earth.

The best point of all is that the dangers of lead paint aren't exactly a new phenomenon. We (The World) have known about the dangers for a few decades. So really, how could the Chinese not have known what they were doing? Since they obviously want to make American kids retarded... shouldn't we boycott Chinese made toys altogether?

If I had a choice, I would not buy toys made in China. However, I collect stuffed animals, and I have not, to this day, ever found a stuffed animal that was NOT made in China. And the problems so far have not been with stuffed animals.

I dont see why u have to have a lisence to repair people's electrical items, however we buy things manufactured by unskilled, slave-driven workers who manufacture our microwaves, tvs, irons, computers, furniture, everything....
