Where are the LEGO toys made?

Who else is boycotting toys made in China???

  • These toy companies don't care about our families, that's the bottom line. They don't care about our children's health and safety (obviously China doesn't)! and they don't care about contributing to our economy. Families that aren't working can't buy toys, and American-made toys would be made under strict controls to meet those standards. How long has the lead paint issue been going on for? Years, maybe? It seems only since the pet food recalls that more imports have been subject to stricter testing, so I can't imagine how many defective "made in China" things we all own.... ** ALSO I went to a birthday party last month where the father told us NOT to bring a gift made from China. They preferred nothing over a cheap Chinese toy. Can't blame them!! I bought his daughter a Crayola Color Wonder Kit (made in the US). People are taking action!

  • Answer:

like everything in china, out of every 3 certified quality controlled items, 2 will be defective or just cheaply made if not fake. the problem is that, for financial purposes, many big companies prefer using the cheap chinese labour system..... if you look closely in your house you might find MANY many chinese made items, from the kitchen ustensils to bathroom stuff via the bedroom accesories. you might have forgot but big brand like SONY, NIKE and even APPLE usually have a "made in china" mark. ..... if ever there needs to be a change, then it should be in the mind of people that believe "cheaper at all cost" Mattel is the tip of the iceberg..... remember that there are CARS made in china that are flooding the market, imagine that!

It is called, blowing things way out of proportion to sell news. China has taken steps to curtail the problems, but you rarely hear of that in the western press. That simply does not make good news copy, but tainted toothpaste does. Fact: China is on the fast track to bring in line the few businesses that are guilty of this. Fact: One corrupt high ranking official ended up being executed for accepting bribes to approve drugs that he knew was dangerous and did result in death to a few unlucky individuals. Fact: Businesses are being shut down, to fines, to jailings. China will fix this problem and in a year you'll figure out something else to pick on China about. Peace Jim .

Perhaps if people in America weren't so uptight about how much they're willing to work for, we would have more toys and other items from the US. It is pretty simple math, as someone has pointed out already. American worker: (Bare minimum) $7.35/hr Chinese worker: (No minimum?) $ very little. Now if you were a business owner, regardless of what you were charging for the product, would you rather have your toys made in the US or in China, for a fraction of the price? If you say the US, perhaps you are feeling rather patriotic, but in essance, if you were really in it for the money, as most business people are, you would obviously choose China. You really can't blame them in the long run. Funny, I was going to use the car example as well, as it is one of my main explanations to people who complain about chinese/foreign products in the US. I knew a man, very well in fact, who worked for GM for 27 years. When he retired, he was earning 27.00 / hour, and do you know what he did? Well, of course you don't, but I'll tell ya :) ... He installed a screw on a seatbelt assembly. One piece would come down the line every minute, and he would pick it up, put a screw in a hole, use an electric screwdriver and screw it down tight and place it back on the belt. 60 times an hour, 10 hours a day, so he'd screw in 600 screws a day and walk out with 270.00 + overtime pay after 40 hours. The next time you're at an auto dealership, look at the price on GM, Ford...etc and you'll understand why they cost so much. Then drive down the street a bit and look at cars like KIA, who even had an offer once of buy a minivan and get a free sedan. FREE! A FREE CAR! How can they do it? Simple, low wages and mass exporting. This is NO different than the toy industry, and unless you're willing to pay massively high prices on toys, I would assume it will remain this way. By the way, I assume, since you're so against this whole import thing, you don't shop at wal-mart, or pretty much any other store in the US? Fact is, a high majority of all the products you probably buy every day come from China, you really can't escape it.
