Why can't DVDs, books, and games companies sell the collectors box separately?

  • Lets say you collect Harry potter books as they become available. Once all the books are out and you own them all. The company will then release the books all of again, but this time in a fancy collectors box. This means you would have to sell all your books just to get the collectors box. We do the book company a big favor by buying there books on release date or soon after. If we didn't buy the books on the release date then the companies would lose out and so would the author. We make them happy by buying the books on release date so why can't they make us happy by selling the collectors box separately. It would save alot of trees being cut down and destroyed. And we would not feel guilty about buying the books all over again. This also applies to all the DVDs, books, and games companies,etc... that do this kind of thing.
