What are the origins of the Easter bunny?

Has anyone seen this musical stuffed animal Easter bunny?

  • When I was little, I won an Easter bunny at an Easter egg hunt; I believe it was sometime between 1991 and 1995. I have no idea what happened to it, but I’m hoping to find the same one (I assume they were mass-produced). Since it was an Easter egg hunt, I figured the ones set it up must have gotten their supplies from wal-mart in order to cut costs, plus some of the features match up with their brand Dan Dee. I contacted wal-mart, but they don’t have records older than 10 years and their Easter bunnies are considered ‘imports’. The easter bunny was white and its fur wasn’t real short, but it wasn’t long either, maybe ¾”. It sat upright with its feet facing straight out and its ears stood straight up (neither were floppy). The entire bunny may have been about a foot tall. It’s cheeks were kind of fuzzy, but the same white color as the rest of the bunny. I don’t recall any whiskers and I believe its eyes were black plastic. It’s most distinctive features include the fabric inside its ears and on the egg it held between its front paws. The fabric was smooth and had a colorful Easter egg print on a solid, light green or blue background. The egg had a round, red felt patch of fabric on it that read “press me” or “press here”. When pressed, it played a lullaby of some sort. If you by any chance find a bunny with this description, or have any information about it, let me know. It was very special to me. Thank You!

I had a very similar bunny to yours. I got mine in the late 80s. It also played a song and was yellow. It had striped feet and inside the ears. Mine was not holding an egg. The hands were out. They were very popular back then, but you don't see any modern versions of them now.

I don't think they would have something from so long ago, but I'm sure you could find something similar, maybe by searching "animated easter bunny" on google. Good luck!
