Are there any paper and pencil strategy games?

What are easy games like Tic-tac-toe and hangman? (I just need like 5 games, cards, pencil and paper)?

Card games - go fish and old maid Paper and pencil games - I don't know what its called, but a person makes a small line on a piece of paper anywhere and the next person does the same. The object is to make a box and the person who closes the box with the last line gets to initial it. In the end the winner has the most initials. Another paper/pencil (kinda verbal as well) Start with a four letter word, change one letter to try to make a new word. See how many different words you can get
