What skateboard deck do you recommend?

What deck ideas can anyone recommend for a FFA MTG matches?

  • I play Magic: The Gathering card game around my friend's house quite a lot and there's always at least 3-4 of us going all out. Now, it's quite easy to make competitive 1v1 decks, but when it comes to protecting yourself from all angles or dealing with big creatures that could kill you in one-hit when you've just gone all out to kill one opponent it gets a bit 'complicated', lol. It's all fun and games, but any 'fundamentals' anyone could offer would be invaluable. We only started playing about a year a go, but we're not strictly set to Standard rulings - you may find the odd 'Sol Ring', one may have obtained from a Commander deck, but overall, we play by the rules. I'm just stuck for some deck ideas now and controlling the board is quite difficult unless you're always playing with blue, or at least a splash of blue - control, to help the situation. In particular, i'm after some cards and general deck tips to help deal with all and any outcome - i feel playing a balanced deck that can cover any scenario would be best, but is this achieveable? How many artifact/enchantment destruction cards should you have? How many creatures should you have? How many board wipers or spot-removal spells should you go for?? It's all very daunting and while we've dealt with it all before, we keep obtaining more and more cards. So really, what i'm after for, is any tips that people could supply me with. Thanks! Oh, on a side note: I'm after a Red/Blue/Black 'Nicol Bolas' type of deck if anybody has any ideas about how to modify it?

  • Answer:

I currently just started to play Magic the Gathering with my friends also, and I've been quite addicted. I just recently finished my first successful deck built around the theme of hydra creatures. That being said you should always build your deck with only 60 cards. It lets you know your deck better and you have a much higher chance of drawing the cards you want and need to win. So divide the deck your trying to make into three twenty card sections. One section should be devoted totally to mana (so 20 land cards). The next section should have twenty cards that fit around your primary deck theme. These usually are a majority of creature cards with some equipment. The last section should be of 20 "helper" cards. These can be cards that range from preventing all combat damage one turn (the card is called 'fog') to giving your creatures +3 +3 ( 'giant growth'). As for a three mana deck - I have tried to master a two mana deck that was red and black and it was completely a fail. I think that going mono one color would be much easier. But that's just my two cents. Have fun!
