A question about a card combo and the rules of yugioh?

  • ok i have a card that you have to pay 500 life points to negate the effect of a spell card and then theres another card that if a card thats activated inflicts damage on me it will be reversed and used on the opponent......say if i activated the first card then the second would that effect the opponent not me or would it be an illegal move

    Firstly, the 500 LP you lose to activate the negation card (probably Goblin out of the Frying Pan which is what I'll use) is a COST, not and EFFECT. There are two distinct differences. The card that reverses the effect damage is probably Barrel Behind the Door, and it cannot be chained to Goblin out of the Frying Pan. This is because Barrel Behind the Door reverses effect damage only, not costs. And the 500 LP you pay is a cost, not effect damage. I hope you see the difference.

it goes straight to your opponent

the 500lp loss is a cost, not a form of damage, so you can't chain the second card to the 500lp loss "pay 500" is not the same as "take 500 damage"
