What's A Good Deck To Base Around Tualatin?

What is your favorite old school pokemon tcg deck? (I mean REALLY old, like base, jungle and fossil)?

  • What is your favorite. There is the classic mill deck, Damage counter control with 'base set' alakazam. Rain dance deck with 'base set' blastoise. My favorite is probably the damage control deck; move all of your damage to a chansey, use 'scoop up', repeat! Those were the days. base set, jungle and fossil only, please. I suppose you can include promos from that era as well. Thank You

This is a great question. It brings back so many memories of when I started playing. I don't play anymore as I got tired of it and all the new sets that came out really pissed me off for some reason so I stopped playing. My all-time favorite is the Rain Dance Blastoise deck. I destroyed so many people with that deck. lol. I did use Dark Dragonair from the Team Rocket set. That's the only card that wasn't from the first 3 sets that I used. His effect was too good to be able to not include him in that deck. He allowed me, once per turn, to search my deck for any Evolved Pokemon and add it to my hand. So I used him solely to search out Blastoise, then would use Pokemon Breeder to evolve Squirtle into Blastoise. Then from there just try to get my heavy hitters on the field like Articuno, Lapras, Gyrados, etc. and use cards like Bill and Professor Oak to draw out as many Water Energy's as possible. Then use Blastoise's effect and just go crazy with all my Energy's. lol. My second favorite deck that I played as much as I played my Blastoise deck was my Venusaur Energy Switch-a-roo Deck. lol. Not sure about the name. I just came up with it. Anyway it used the same combos as my Blastoise deck did, except with Grass Pokemon. I'd use Dark Dragonair to get Venusaur, then use Pokemon Breeder to get him on the field. However, Dark Dragonair was more important to this deck as I also had Nidoking and Nidoqueen in this deck and used him to search them out as well. Then, of course, would use stuff to get as many Energy's as possible so I can then play the Energy Switch-a-roo game. By the time I got fully set up, I had plenty of Energy's on the field to move around. If my Pokemon looked like he would die next turn, I would switch my Energy's around and let him die so I didn't lose them. I'd bring in a massive Pokemon who I just switched all my Energy's too. It was a great deck. I have a few other favorites as well, but didn't play as much. The same as your favorite, the Alakazam Damage Control. Get Alakazam on the field, then get all large hit point Pokemon Like Kangaskhan and Chansey. When there was enough counters on them, then either Scoop Up or Pokemon Center to clear your field of Counters. I was also fond of Lightning decks. I would use Zapdos and Pickachu's and Raichu's, Magnemites and Magnetons, and Voltorb's and Electrodes. The deck wasn't fantastic, but I liked it.
