Where can I play Magic the Gathering for free against other people online?

  • I don't have a credit card and I want to be able to create a deck out of any card and go find a random person and play, EASILY And for some reason when I tried Magic Workstation it had these weird jewel cards with this stuff about towers and dungeons, idk but it wasn't magic. Also it said you had to pay to get all cards. 50 points to whoever gets me playing magic online

    Magic Workstation is the current best out there with a large playerbase. The cards you saw were the defaults - you simply need to install the MTG Gamepack from http://www.mwsgames.com/index.php/Main_Page then a newer masterbase+sets file is at http://www.slightlymagic.net/software/mws - get the base and the latest theme. Those files need to installed into MWS directory by hand. Note: Do NOT have MWS installed in the default directory (Program Files) under Vista or Win7 - only install MWS into any other directory, like a new folder in your drive root (like c:\mws). Its impossible to update the data files correctly while installed in Program Files. You do not have to pay to use the cards - thats bad info. MWS can be registered for more features, remove the ad banner, and build custom sets. Online play and deckbuilding are completely free.
