Can someone recommend a good dvd on the basics of chess or some good chess training software?

I have a basic book on chess. I was wondering if someone could recommend some good software that would show strategy and give insight.. Something geared for the beginner but could be used by an intermediagte. I am also looking for a good dvd which is also geared for the starter but could be used by an intermediagte level thank you very much

ChessMaster Grandmaster Edition or ChessMaster 10 is a very good choice since it not only has tons of lectures (ChessMaster Series, Weitzkin Lectures, etc.) but also tactical puzzles, engine to play against or to analyze and a game database. The Deluxe version of "Chess Mentor" is excellent. It's not an engine, but it takes you step by step through a ton of problems, and it can give you several hints (if you're not sure what to do), before it gives the solution. http://www.chessmentor.com/order_deluxe.html Chess Mentor is well worth the price imo. Chessmaster also has excellent tutorials.
