How to implement a relative timer in a game?

What am I suppose to do in Yahoo chess when my opponent left a game unfinish? (Timer stopped, why?)?

  • The timer use to keep running when the opponent left the game unfinish, but now it wants to wait for the opponent. How am I suppose to win the game at a stall. It just gives people a more reason to leave games unfinish because they lose nothing but leaving the other person fustrated.

  • Answer:

Once again yahoo is looking for ways to reward bratty behavior. One thing you can do is always have a 2nd player ID loaded on a different browser. For example: Lets assume you are using Explorer as your regular browser to play. Player runs away. Bring in your 2nd ID using Netscape. Use that ID to resign the game. Can't get into the room because its too full? No problem, use a back door, the best one I have found is http://www.backdoors.to/yahoo/chess/ It will allow you to enter a room unless there are 250 players in the room. Bottom line is you should not care about your Yahoo rating, its meaningless. You can use 2 Browsers to create fake ratings. The less you care about your rating the less upset you will be when you lose.
