Language-based games with pencil and paper?
-
Here are three that we've tried, and we're looking for more along these lines: 1) everyone writes a sentence on a piece of paper, then passes it to the next person. They write a sentence to continue the story, then fold over the first sentence and pass it to the next person. That person only sees the most recent sentence, and writes a sentence to continue the story, folds over the previous sentence, passes it to the next person, etc. It makes it a silly, non-sequitor story when it's done. 2) Each person writes a sentence on a piece of paper and passes it to the next person. That person has to draw a picture that illustrates the sentence. They then fold it over so only the picture is showing, and pass it to the next person. That person then has to write a sentence that describes the picture. They fold it so only the sentence is showing, pass it to the next person who has to illustrate it, and so one. It's like 'telephone', but with pictures. 3) Everyone writes a what-if sentence about someone in the room, then folds their paper and puts it in the center. Everyone picks a paper (not their own), reads the what-if question, and writes and answer on the back; fold again and put them in the center. Everyone picks a paper one more time (that they haven't written on). Then one person reads his question, and the person next to him reads his answer, and so one. You get a bunch of silly, silly sentences. MORE IDEAS LIKE THESE?
