Why do i always lose signal on my mobile?

In Yahoo backgammon when I win the game, I often get no points. When I lose I always lose points. Why?

  • I am playing rated games for 101 points.

  • Answer:

Two possible reasons: 1. If either you or your opponent are playing another game at the same time, often (but not always) the server only records one of the games for ratings; and not necessarily the game which started first either. Therefore, you can win (and even against a higher rated opponent, when you would expect to score 20-40 points) and gain absolutely zilch. 2. If your opponent is much lower rated than yourself, you will gain little or nothing when you win; in contrast, your lower rated opponent will always gain 20 - 40 points. This is because the rating equation assumes that the longer the match is, the bigger the favorite the higher rated player is (even though, in general, the so-called '101 point matches' aren't a long match, just 1 game). To give some figures for the rating difference (RD) and points won: RD = 0, both players can win or lose 20 points RD = 100, higher rated player can win 10, but lose 30 RD = 380, higher rated player wins 0.5, but can lose 39.5 At this difference, the gain of 0.5 will only show up as a 1 point game on your displayed rating about half the time (due to rounding). RD = 800, higher rated player gains....0 points (and the lower rated opponent loses nothing when losing, but can gain 40 when victorious).
