How to win the board game "Diplomacy"?

I'm playing the game in history class and my team is starting on Austria-Hungary- any strategies to help us win? thanks
Answer:

Ally with Russia or Turkey or both. Also a non-aggression pact with Germany and/or Italy to give you a little breathing room at the start. I think the best is an alliance with Russia, non-aggression with Italy, and take out Turkey quickly, splitting the Balkans with the Rus. Then the world is yours :)
