What happened to the game Starfarers of Catan?

Anyone else play Settlers of Catan, the board game?

  • Some friends of mine and I like to get together and play Catan every now and then. It's kind of like a Monopoly meets Risk with maybe a twinge of Sim City thrown in. There's a cool xbox version, but the board game is much better. Usually takes 45 mins to an hour for 4 people. And they have a couple expansions you can use. We tend to combine them all and play our Ultimate Catan version (takes 4-6 hrs per game). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catan

    I try and get a game in two or three times a month. Currently we are playing with the Seafarers expansion, which gives a slightly new dimension to the game without changing it's character. We recently introduced it to some of our non gaming friends and they loved it. We keep getting asked when are playing again. I noticed that they are releasing the 4th edition in November, with new artwork etc.

Check out http://www.boardgamegeek.com to find a lot of games similar to (and ultimately much better than) Settlers of Catan. Settlers came out more than 10 years ago, and board games have continued to evolve in many ways.

Axis and Allies is ultimately better than Settlers of Catan. It is way better than the simplistic Risk, and all basic elements of warfare are present.... enough said.
