How can I make a cool board game out of the book Pretty Little Liars?

I have to make a board game about Pretty Little Liars ( I chose the book) but all my ideas stink! I've started, but I need more help! Try to make it simple for me, and not a card game! Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is a very good answer since I'm not familiar with the book, but maybe you could take a monopoly board and make names based on famous places or the people in the book? Or maybe you could do something interesting with Clue - try to solve a complex situation (some dramatic situation or something that might arise within the book) using important characters.
