How to Play Uno
-
Answer:
Uno is a pretty simple card game. If you've ever heard of "Crazy Eights" it's the same sort of game, but with more cards thrown in to mess with the rules. The point of the game is to get rid of all your cards first. When you have only 1 card left you have to say "Uno". If you forget to say "Uno" and someone else says it instead you have to take 2 cards. First you shuffle the deck and give every player gets 7 cards, then you turn over the top card of the deck and put it next to the deck(Now called the Draw Deck) to form the Discard Pile. Players take turns playing cards from their hands onto the Discard Pile. You can play a card when it matches the discard pile by either color or number. So if you have a Green 4 and Discard Pile is a Green 8 you can play the 4 and it's the next players turn. You could also play the Blue 8 that you have if you wanted to do that instead. If you don't have a card that matches you draw a card from the discard pile, if it matches you can play it, if it doesn't then you pass and it's the next player's turn. In addition to the standard number cards there are also "Power Cards" that force other players to take more cards, skip a person's turn or change the direction of play. The most well known Power Cards are "Wild" and "Wild Draw 4". Both of these are wild cards and allow you to change the color of the discard pile, so if you play it you also name a color, like Red, and then only Red cards can be played. The "Wild Draw 4" is a wild card AND makes the player after you draw 4 cards and lose their turn. The other cards are "Draw 2", "Reverse" and "Skip". Skip makes the next person lose their turn. "Reverse" makes the turn order go in the other direction, so if the game was between You, Beth and Herbert it would first go Herbert, You, Beth, but then you play Reverse so it's now Beth, You, Herbert. Basically it means that the person who was about to go doesn't get their turn, and the person who just played a card before you goes again. "Draw 2" makes the player after you take 2 cards from the Draw Pile and lose the rest of their turn. I hope that has been helpful. I know I made "Reverse" really confusing in the way I explained it, but it's a pretty easy card to use one you're used to it, it just makes the players play cards in the opposite direction. The link below is another summation of the rules of Uno.
