How random are card shuffling machines at casinos?

Are there casinos where Blackjack is dealt from card 'shoes' not shuffler machines?

  • Are there any major US or European casinos where Blackjack is dealt from card shoes and not shuffler machines? With most gaming 'regulators' pretty much in cahoots with the casinos, I doubt that card shuffler machines do not incur a house advantage against the gamblers.

  • Answer:

Many in Atlantic City are out of shoes. Probably a majority... So you are going to fly around the world to a "shoe" casino, because you think the shuffler machines are rigged? Good luck with that. The game itself has a house advantage against the gamblers.

Last time I went to Vegas, a year ago, they were still dealing out of shoes. Also, most of the Indian casinos in California, such as Pala and Pechanga, still use shoes.

Do you mean continuous shuffle machines, or a machine that simply shuffles the deck? I'd say most casinos here in Vegas use shuffle machines, but still deal out of the shoe. There are plenty of casinos that shuffle by hand though, I couldn't even begin to list them. I'd say at least half of all casinos with double and single deck games shuffle by hand, not with a machine. Continuous shuffle machines are around, but most games are still dealt from shoes. Continuous shuffle machines are very bad for the player, but hand shuffled vs machine shuffled is completely inconsequential unless you're an MIT blackjack genius who's a master of shuffle tracking.

Binion's Casino in Vegas offers one deck BJ, shuffled and dealt by hand. In AC, Caesars was offering one deck 3/2 BJ too. https://www.caesarsac.com/casinos/caesars-atlantic-city/casino-gambling/table-games-detail.html Here is the Player Card for one deck BJ: http://www.insideblackjack.com/ac_1d.html I don't think there is any specific advantage to hand shuffle vs shuffler machine. Typically when the machine shuffler is used, the cards are removed from the shuffler and dealt from a shoe. The primary difference I noticed was that hand shuffling slowed the game down some. I don't care for the lighting "speed" dealers and don't prefer a slower paced game.
