What happens to a wining Lottery Scratch-er after being redeem?
-
I got a few California's lottery scratch-er's to put online for 2nd chance draw. I know it might sound silly but I don't really play the lottery or any of its games. I'm just merely entering this scratch-er's in the computer to see if I could win something. Most are giving by my friends or by my family and I have come by some winning scratch-er's. I always thought that if some one redeems them, the clerk keeps the scratch-er and gives you the prize or do you get to keep the scratch-er either way?. Sorry again, I don't play the lottery.

Answer:
They staple the receipt to the ticket and keep it. Once the ticket is scanned and cashed, it can not be cashed for the 2nd time. The computer terminal won't let it.

The clerk usually just scans it and throws it away after they pay you but if you ask them for it back they'll give it to you since it's worthless after being scanned.
