  • I was looking in to becoming a poker dealer and wondered if there were any poker dealers out there that went through this program? If you are a dealer and have not been through this progam what schooling have you been through? and what steps did you take to getting a job as a dealer? also if you could tell me a bit about your job that would be cool. what kind of money you make and how you like being a dealer and just stuff like that. also how long did it take you to go through school if you did and did the school place you in a casino and if not how did you go about getting a job at one? Thx 4 your answers!

    Where I live the casinos train you once you put in the application and they are considering hiring you. My friend is a dealer and they trained her. This is in Michigan I don't know about other states.

Casino dealers have to deal a variety of card games, not just poker. All of the table card games you find in a casino are dealt by a rotation of on-shift dealers. In any major city with a fair number of casinos you will usually find several dealer schools available. You will probably not be able to learn much about dealing from an online site, you really want the hands-on experience of a live school. Look in your city through the yellow pages or by asking at a casino. It's usually a 2 or 3 month course, probably costing a grand or two, and they should have a placement program to get you into a dealing job once you "graduate." Check with the casinos in your area to see if they offer some kind of tuition reimbursement when you're hired. If the casinos in your area get a lot of business the chances are they're always looking for dealers.
