Simple statistics question.

Blackjack statistics question?

  • question regarding the statistics/Multiparameter Strategy Adjustments for keeping every count (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,j,q,k,a) and the adjustments for strategy played. EXAMPLE: single deck, player hard 17 vs dealer 10. know the 13 side counts; 3-a's left. 2-2's left. 4-3's left 4-4's left 0 5-9 left, 2-10's left in the shoe to play. What are the statistics for %'s hit/stay in this situation. 13/15 cards will not bust me (87% clearly HIT AWAY!) says I will not bust if i take a hit. Also the many many variations of this example. such as: 3-a's left. 2-2's left. 4-3's left 4-4's left 0 5-9 left, 12-10's left. How has more face cards/tens changed my decision to hit/stay? what about if there were 4-9's left, and 4-8's? this greatly increases my chances of busting if i choose to hit. but what is that %, statistics. I was told it's called the gordon count and I should just google it and tons of info will appear. no. what pops up under the gordon count is not what i'm looking for. What i'm looking for will be thousands of scenarios. Any help very much appreciated, thanks! Any information appreciated.

  • Answer:

You dont play based upon how often you bust, you play based upon all permutions, and that includes the dealers permutations. first you would take that given composition of cards you made up just now, and run every permution for the action of hit so find you woul... bust xxx% hard17 yyy% hard 18 zzz% hard 19 aaa% hard 20 bbb% hard 21 ccc% Then do the same for the dealer, using only those cards remaining, run every permutation to find how often the dealer will... bust xxx% hard 17 yyy% ... etc Then you take that information and figure how often for ALL PERMUTATIONS you will..... Lose xxx% Push YYY% Win zzz% Then you take that information and come up with an averge win dollar amount for that initial action, hit stand etc, and you compare it to the other values for the other actions you will also calculate. whichever action had the highest dollar value, hit stant double, etc is the action you take, if the action is DIFFERENT than basic strategy, your composition of cards has already crossed the "index" you were asking about. The index marks where the two streategy plays are of equal value. You would need to design some sort of simplification of the multiple counts you have to mark when a correct play is justified based on the 13 sid counts you have going there. because one count may indicate plkay change toward doubling, while another may indicate toward hitting, and yet another toward standing, and they may all cancel out, then a fith count is still pushing toward hitting making it increasingly complicated and theres still like 7 counts left in that example. As you can see this approach to card coutning is completely and utterly impossible to apporaoch with a human mind.

You both are very WRONG! Card counting and generally winning consistently at Blackjack is so easy! You simply master Basic Strategy perfectly and when you have +3 on a single deck you place your bet on first or last position on the table. If you count correctly you won't have to even guess at your hand because it will 99% of the time be 20 or 21. In which case you better stay and watch the dealer cry.
