I lost $400 in Las Vegas and $300 at Indian Casinos playing slot machines. Why do so many still visit casinos?
-
It doesn't matter how much I bet on the slots, I always lost. I even tried the video poker. I'm never setting foot in another casino. Why do so many people play at casinos when it's obviously a scam?

Answer:
Casinos are not a scam, the house edge of every game is public information that is freely available to anyone with an Internet connection. A scam would imply that casinos are cheating in some kind of underhand manner to take your money. But they don't need to. The odds on the games are designed such that over the long term players will end up giving 1-25% to the house. But the reason people still play is because you can beat the odds in the very short term. You can put $10 in a slot machine and win $15m! That's quite a return. The trick is to have realistic expectations. Casinos have better odds than most lotteries around the country. But even so you have to accept that you are likely to lose most of the time, unless you are playing a game where the casino doesn't care if you win or lose, like poker.

Boo hoo, you want cheese with your whine? You lost so it has to be a scam? It's not a scam, it is what it is. It's gambling. The house has the advantage, you know that going in. Lots of people win (just not as many as lose)

I think the Gaming Control Board was created to make sure casinos aren't scams. Lol. Ya a lot of slots have house edges but the last time I was at a casino I saw a guy win $50,000 on a $25 slot machine. Maybe you should quit playing the slots and try table games

It is the thrill of gambling for those who want instant gratification

It is NOT a scam. The odds just favor the house. (Slots have the WORST odds of casino "games".) Just because YOU lost does not mean EVERYBODY loses. SOME people, who have taken the time to LEARN HOW to "gamble" make very good livings doing just that. (I did for several years, but had to give it up for health reasons!!)

dwh said it most people like instant gratification. say they gamble away $100 but then they win $70 in one spin or something it still feels good to them for me i would still be fckin pissed im down 30 bux and never go near a machine that makes someone else money.

Slot machines are not a good bet-you will always lose over time because the payouts are so low. Find a good table game like craps, play smart, and reduce the casino odds.
