Is 'counting' cards when playing Blackjack CHEATING in casinos?
-
I'm not quite exactly sure if 'counting' cards, like in the movie 21 is cheating. Especially in casinos. But I think in the movie they were caught because they were in a team.. so they made more money that way. I'm not quite sure. Is counting cards when playing blackjack cheating or not in casinos?

YES! It is, if you think of doing it, DON'T! You can get in real trouble doing that, like in the movie. Why is it cheating? Like in the movie, you can guess what will be the best move to do. It's called betting for a reason.

Card counting is not illegal, It simply an advanced playing strategy, that unlike other playing strategies happens to be effective. Casinos, will excersise whatever rights and powers they have to detur, and prevent it from taking place. In some cases, they can bar you or remove you from the casino if they think you are counting cards, but it doesnt make it illegal. When you count cards, all you do is observe the table, place bets and play out your hands accordingly, thats it. You play the game just like everybody else, but according to a specific plan. ABSOLUTELY NOT. Counting cards is NOT cheating, it's NOT illegal, and there's nothing bad about it. All you are doing is using your brain to win money at blackjack. How could that possibly be cheating? That would be like calling Phil Ivey a "cheater" because he's a better poker player than everyone else. Counting cards is perfectly honest and legal, and it is not as difficult as some people (who probably have never even tried) claim it is. Anyone who plays blackjack more than a few times a year should put in the time and effort to learn to count cards.

Its not cheating. However, it is frowned upon by the casino and they have the right to kick anyone out that they want anytime. For the poster above me Jay W. You can't legally get in any trouble. It isn't against the law. There is no way you can get in trouble . Getting kicked out is the worst that can happen

Counting cards is not illegal... If you have a special ability, like being able to predict the odds, it isnt your problem.... It is illegal because they worked in teams tho
No, but the casinos will ban you even so if they suspect you of doing it.

Yes, it's cheating. They were able to do it for so long because they were in a team. When you count cards alone it's easy to spot, because you change the size of your bets dramatically. It's almost impossible to count cards now as most casinos use continuous shufflers.
