If it is heads up. Can Player 1 bet, get called by Player 2 and then Player 1 raises again?
-
I was playing live texas hold em in a bar with five people in the pot. Player 1 raised it by 500, I (Player 2) called and the rest (Player 3, 4 and 5 all folded). The turn came out and Player 1 raised by 500 so I called. There was only me (Player 2) and him (Player 1) left in the hand. As soon as I had called his 500, he raised it again. I explained to him that he couldn't do that but I was told that in Heads up situation that he was alllowed to re-raise even if a player had just called his bet. I have never heard of this rule but was told that it was the way that it was played in Casinos in Las Vegas. By the way, I folded. Is this true or have I been tricked out of a pot?

Answer:
I've always thought that once you call, it's game over...

I have never heard of anyone being able to raise like you describe above. The only way Player 1 could have re-raised is if you would have raised but because you called that should have been the end.

He cannot raise you until the next card is dealt! You can ALWAYS ask the dealer if you have any questions. In this case, the dealer should have notified the other player that he would have to wait in order to make another bet/raise. Never trust other players, always question the dealer.

in all of the tourny's and cash games I have played in casino's from California Indian casino's to Vegas I have never seen what you described. i have always seen: P1 raises P2 calls next card comes out or P1 checks P2 bets P1 calls Next card comes out this is why some people hate limit poker.. you nail a fantastic monster hand and all you get to do is a one bet, and then the other guy calls.. then next card.. you can't pump the pot, because you can't re-raise a call.

No, they cannot re-raise the pot if you simply call. You got swindled!

You got tricked 100% He bets, you call that's it for the round you should have dealt the river. Who was he raising the second time? Himself? He can't raise himself no matter how many players in the hand, heads up or 10 players it doesn't matter. You've basically given him two turns. No casino anywhere in the world would play by those rules.

a raise is not allowed if you just called the only other player.

You were tricked out of a pot. Whenever someone bets and the opponent calls, that round of betting is over. In your scenario you mentioned, after you called his bet after the flop the next round of betting should have occured on the turn (fourth card). If you had reraised him instead of calling, than he would have been able to reraise
