  I am guessing you are referring to the Alicia Alonso method (Cuban) and Vaganova (Russian.) The Cuban National ballet has a real romantic feel and combines the Russian extension with the fancy Italian foot work. That would be the best way I would have of describing it. Vaganova emphasizes dancing with the entire body, promoting harmonious movement among arms, legs, and torso.The torso is the foundation of all movements, so the dancer's torso had to be strengthened. It is very clean and precise but not stiff. It was a combining of the Italian Cecchetti and the French method of dance. Nether one is best. They are just different. Unless you live in Cuba, I am not aware of anywhere that it is taught in the US. Vaganova turns out very strong dancers.
