Whats the chances of becoming a ballerina?

    Well if I were to estimate, its about one in one thousand people that actually get chosen to be a main dancer in a prominent company, and about one in a million actually become prima ballerinas. But don't let this stop you from going for your dreams. As my ballet teacher always tells me, you can be that one if you want it that badly and try hard enough! So, yeah, it might SEEM impossible, but nothing is impossible when you train and work for your goals.

Realistically, it is only one out of several hundred....competition is murderous....especially for women. You need TONS of talent, a burning ambition, outstanding schooling from a very reputable pre-professional school, a ballerina physique, and start young. Yes...getting to the top is VERY difficult

Do you have the determination to make it to the top? Do you feel like you're good enough to become professional? Are you truly wanting to become a ballerina? If you answered yes to all three, then you probably have enough determination to do it. Just don't give up and good luck!

*Anyone have statistics on the chance of becoming a ballerina? Even if you do come across such statistics don't give them more than a casual eye. Ballet of all dance forms has a lot of behind-the scene politics.You may not be the most proficient or the most soulful dancer on your troupe but you could be cast if you the director feels you have a right look or a feel...or most importantly sees determination. *How many make it to the top?. I dont really know what exactly is the "top" for you.But very few make it to star-like success. But that don't mean they stop having fun with ballet or give up dancing.Keep you passion alive and have a blast...and that i promise you will take you places. *Is it as excruciating as they make it out to be?. Depends you can moderate you classes and your work management yourself. Don't get over-involved in detail statistics and facts.Your success lies in your passion and your desire not quotes and maths. Have fun dancing...aspire to be the best that you can be and one day you will be. Love and peace.

Well, the best of the best start out at like age 3. They practice harder & harder each year, & are the first in their class to be put on pointe. Then they work even harder. Some train 6-10 hours a day. Yes, it's excruciating. No, not even half will become professionals & dance w/ major companies.

what type of ballerina? I mean your chance of getting in to a company is one, but then it becomes is that all you waht? or do you want to be a solo dancer? each one has a diffrent odd!

If you're good and versatile (can do many different dance styles) the chances are very good. There are so many ways to get discovered now there's no reason you shouldn't be able to make it big. If you get an agent and go to lots of auditions, you're bound to make it. Good luck!!!

I love to dance. The chance of becoming a professional ballerina are slim. You have to work really hard, and even then you have to prove you're the best. Good Luck!!!!
