What should i wear to dance class?

  • im starting a hiphop dancing class in the fall. is there anything i should wear specifically like shoes or clothing? and if you know a good site where i can buy dance wear online that would be great too.

    shoes, wear whatever shoes you feel comfortable in. But make sure it supports well your feet. I recommend Nikes, but any other brand can do the trick. Pants: Wear sweatpants or shorts. leggings look horrible on hip hop dancers and you cant wear a tutu. haha Jeans limit your movements and I think they wont allow you to wear them at the studio anyway. Shirts: any shirt. I wear big t-shirt. Large clothes makes a good ''ilusion'' on hip hop dancers... I don't know why, it just looks good. Other than that, bring a water bottle. Hope that I helped Have fun! Oh and you will see how people are dress at your first class so if what I told you is not appropriate (what would very suprise me) then you will just have to come back next class with something looking like what the other students wear. the most important is to keep it simple. Well for hip hop you don't need any specific clothes unless the instructor says otherwise. Get into character though! You wouldn't go into a ballet class wearing baggy sweatpants and gym shoes right? You'd wear pink ballet shoes,tights, and a leotard. Wear baggy pants/shorts and gym shoes. It's amazing how getting into that character projects on the overall performance (because it's believable).

Um i would probalby wear like a a pair of shorts and maybe like a baggy shirt. Wear shorts underneath baggy sweatpants capris. She may want capris for floorwork. And a tee shirt. After one class you'll know what you need by copying other kids so don't buy anything big because you might need to buy something after you start.

It depends on the studio. At the studio i go to the hip hop classes have to have these shoes http://sneakersandshoes.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/whatthedudepart3.jpg and wear a leotard and tan tights but wear shorts or pants over. just go to the class and see what everyone else wears or call the studio and ask what your supposed to wear
