What is worn for the 'romantic style?

What is a good style of ballet shoe that can be worn as a street shoe?

  • I am looking for a REAL ballet shoe (the kind you wear when you dance, but not pointe shoes) that I can wear as everyday shoes. So far I have looked at styles by Bloch, Capezio, and Joe's but I am not sure which ones will hold up best for walking short distances on sidewalk and on hard floors indoors. Ideally I want a pink satin ballet flat, but pink or nude leather will do also. Any suggestions on what brand/specific style of ballet shoe will be best for me? Or are there any street shoes that look very similar to a real ballet shoe?

  • Answer:

Russian pointe ballet flats are very strong. I use them for ballet class... also if you go to target they have a ballet section, there they sell 'ballet shoes' that are 'street shoes' these shoes are more for the amateur ballerina and could work as a street shoe. Target shoes are a lot cheaper than real ballet shoes.

As gorgeous as they are, ballet shoes will NOT handle street wear and tear. And many people find pointe shoes quite hard and uncomfortable. My only suggestion would be to try a pair of Bloch RAD syllabus approved flats in satin (very pretty) and take them to a cobbler and get them resoled. Bear in mind that they won't take muddy weather, either, haha! Also, have a look at these ones by Repetto. They look quite a lot like ballet shoes: www.mytheresa.com/shop/product.php?dse…
